March For Our Lives

One week ago today we were doing this.
It didn't end there.
I'm so proud of the students and participants in this event.
3,000 to 4,000 in St. Petersburg I'm told.
15,000 in Tampa.
800,000 in D.C.
Over 800 marches world wide.

March For Our Lives

Saturday was the March For Our Lives led by our children everywhere for gun control reform. It was amazing. Between three and four thousand in St. Pete, fifteen thousand in Tampa, eight hundred thousand in D. C. and millions around the world. After the Parkland, Florida massacre where seventeen people were shot and killed in their school the students are saying enough is enough. I believe in stricter gun laws and I lost someone I loved when she was murdered in a murder suicide a few years ago. That wound will never heal. I will have an album put together in a couple of days of images from the march.

This is for you Lynn. I miss you like crazy.

Thank you for showing up.

Womens' March 2018

Thank you to everyone that put this together and came out to support.
I don't know the exact numbers but there were thousands I hear.
The march line went on forever! :)
I didn't get to see all of the speakers, but was inspired by the ones I did.

And some silliness because we need it to survive....

I've been told I need to do self portraits.
So here I am in my bag of Cheetos.
You have to start somewhere, even if it's at the bottom of the bag.

Mercy Me

This is our world. We need to save it.
After yesterday's selfish and inconsiderate act against all of us great and small, I'm ashamed and angered once again.

On a lighter note....

I didn't get a great picture, but isn't it pretty?
It's a Cattle Egret. I don't think I've ever seen one before. Probably because there aren't any cattle by the water in Safety Harbor. Just guessing there....ha
It eats bugs, so I hope it finds it's mate and makes more little Cattle Egrets.
"In the wintertime, my feathers are all white, but in the spring, I get orange streaks in my head and neck. I’m a common bird in Florida’s cow pastures. In the springtime, my face is accented with bright pink and purple to help me attract a mate."
"The remarkable range expansion of the Cattle Egret represents one of the great avian success stories. Unknown in North America prior to 1952, it is now abundant over much of the continent. It spread from Africa to northeastern South America in the 1870s and 1880s; more recently it has colonized Australasian region. Unlike other herons and egrets, this species typically feeds in dry fields, often following cattle (or other animals) and waiting for them to flush insects into view."

March for Science/Earth Day

March for Science in St. Petersburg, Florida! :)
There were over 600 marches worldwide in support of our respect for science and Earth Day yesterday. It was fantastic that so many people showed up and shared their positive energy! It's saddening to know that we have to defend something that effects every part of our life. Our world is fragile. Taking it for granted is not an option! Peace ♥️
